Living Album Experiment

What would happen if the audience were producers on the album they're listening to?

What if they released regular development updates on music?

The concept is that a composer is writing an album of music, from the earliest conceptual stages through to completion, alongside their audience. By releasing music as updates like an indie-dev, with open discussions about the writing process, the audience is integrated into the art from conception to completion.

This particular project is about challenging relationships with the creative process, both between the artist and audience, as well as between the artist and the art, and how the audience engages with the art.
The experiment hopes to be open and honest about the creative process. Writer's block, dealing with perfectionism and the pressure to produce good work at the expense of enjoyment. By sharing every ugly demo, bad idea, and thought experiment, both you and the artist can find a healthy relationship with the art.

The work will be experimental with initial minimalist influences, but can be shaped and moulded by you and your musical interests. The artist is a producer with a broad range of skills, facilities and contacts, so really anything is possible.

The album

As of posting this, the living album experiment 'A Day in Life' has literally just begun. Do follow along for the journey! Would love to hear your thoughts on the concept in the comments.

(For those interested in the idea here's some influences that have done similar things: "Clips" by Salva, "The Life of Pablo" by Kanye West, "Holly+" by Holly Henderson)
Another big influence is "Deep Listening" by Pauline Oliveros, not just in the music but concept behind it. "Listening is selecting and interpreting and acting and making decisions." ~ Pauline Oliveros.
