Is there a way to easily dull retractions?

I get it. The snappy loud retractions of many mechanisms feels good. But sometimes I just like to fidget with them a bit too much and all those forceful retractions makes the ink write badly (probably from all the harsh force pushing ink away from the nib) for a bit which is, of course, quite annoying. Is there some quick easy method to make those forceful retractions of bolt action or side click type pens less snappy and more smooth or even... gunky so that using the pen as a pen after fidgeting with it for too long is fine?

Glasses start muted 20% of the time

Either have to unplug and replug in, or change the sound tuning (not just volume up or down) to turn sound back on. Is this a defect a new unit would fix, or do y'all just deal with it quietly?
