Got it recommended recently – it's about the connection between humans and water, how being near or in the ocean affects us mentally and emotionally. Felt like something this community might know.
Curious if anyone here has read it and what you thought. Does it resonate with why you surf?
Hey all,
I'm based in Austria (landlocked) and only started surfing two years ago, after dreaming about it for 25 years before I finally got in the water. The hardest part for me hasn't been the technique — it's been getting to waves consistently when you don't live near the coast.
Every time I have a free window in the next 7-10 days I end up doing the same loop: cross-checking forecast sites with Skyscanner to figure out if it's worth flying somewhere for a couple of days. It takes too long and I usually give up.
So I built something for myself that puts it in one view: live forecasts for European regions reachable from your home airport, scored by swell quality, with the cheapest flights for the matching dates next to them.
It's at swelltrip.now. No login, no ads, no affiliates — just a side project I wanted to use.
Maybe someone else with the same hinterland-problem finds it useful too. I'd be really grateful for any feedback — does it actually help, what feels off, what's missing? Brutal is fine.
Cheers
