People often say, “just have tawakkul,” and of course tawakkul matters. But tawakkul does not cancel sabab. We still have to take the right means. That is where I feel stuck.

I am trying to be patient, and I am doing this for Allah first. I also understand that if I am asking Allah for a woman with modesty, loyalty, kindness, and sincerity, then I should be striving to embody those same qualities myself. That part makes sense to me.

What I struggle with is the practical side.

I am comfortable speaking to people, but when it comes to women, I try to be intentional. I do not usually start conversations without a clear reason, partly because I know myself. I would rather avoid opening doors I should not.

For more context, I am currently in the U.S. and will inshaAllah return to my home country next year, so that adds another layer to all of this.

I just know it would be someone with whom I can be fully at peace. Someone warm. Someone who truly loves Allah. Someone I respect deeply, and who feels the same toward me.

That is also why this matters so much to me. I never saw marriage as something casual. A spouse is not just someone you share life with, but someone you hope to walk toward Jannah with, inshaAllah, someone you build a home with, and someone you raise your children with. That is not something I could ever approach carelessly.

What I genuinely want to understand is what this looks like in practice for someone serious.

I am asking sincerely: what are the actual mechanics of this today? How and where does an introduction happen? What does a first conversation even look like in a halal and purposeful context?

Not theoretically. Realistically.

Because if you do not free mix, do not date, do not build yourself around attention from the opposite sex, and do not live on social media, then where exactly do these paths cross?

I am sincerely trying to understand what the right sabab even looks like today.

For those who found a spouse who became qurrata a‘yun for them through a halal and serious process, what actually happened?
