If Burnley loses their remaining 2 games and Wolves don't get at least 4 points, we will see the worst 19th place finish in Premier League history. 2 games before the end they have 18 and 21 points. The lowest point tally a 19th ever finished a PL season with is 22 (Ipswich Town 2024/25).

A draw for Burnley would only be enough if they dont lose the other game by 11 goals, Burnley is at -36 GD and Ipswich had -46 (with fewer goals scored). Interestingly enough though, the 18th place (currently West Ham with 36 points) already has more points than at the end of any of the last 9 seasons. Newcastle 2015/16 was the last one better with 37 points.

After the recent Hanta virus outbreak on a cruise ship, manager Ralph Hasenhüttl now revealed how it nearly killed him back in 2012. “It felt like someone had stuck a needle in my head.” His organs were swollen at the time, and his liver and kidneys were pressing against other organs.

Hasenhüttl on Hantavirus: “Like a needle in my head”

Austrian soccer coach Ralph Hasenhüttl, who managed the English club Southampton from 2018 to 2022, spoke for the first time with the British newspaper *The Mirror* about how a hantavirus infection in 2012 nearly cost him his life.

Following a recent outbreak of hantavirus on the Dutch cruise ship “Hondius” in the Atlantic, three people have died in the last few days. The ship was en route from Argentina to Cape Verde. The ship is still underway, and the case is causing an international stir.

“As if a needle were being stuck into my head”

After a mountain bike ride at a training camp, he initially felt weak, Hasenhüttl said. Shortly afterward, he began experiencing severe pain. “It was as if a needle were being stuck into my head.” A little later, more pain set in: “As if I had a knife in my back.”

As his weight fluctuated and his kidneys weakened, Hasenhüttl was warned by his doctors that there was no immediate cure. “You have to wait until the body produces antibodies, and then hope to survive,” he said. His organs had been swollen at the time, and his liver and kidneys were pressing on other organs, Hasenhüttl—who is currently without a club—recalled on Thursday in an interview with the English newspaper.

“Tried to push thoughts aside”

“I tried to push the negative thoughts aside because I felt young, healthy, and strong. I thought, ‘Why should I die from a virus?’” Hasenhüttl, who ultimately spent two weeks in an intensive care unit, was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

According to his own account, Hasenhüttl likely became infected while cleaning his patio—presumably because he inhaled dust containing the virus. The hantavirus can be transmitted to humans through the excrement of rodents such as mice and rats.
