I'm autistic 16 ftm and I wear headphones basically always they're the razor barracuda x if that matters. I listen to music a lot or podcasts/video essays and can't understand things being said to me if I'm listening to something as the noise cancelling (which is due to the muffs not a setting and can't be turned off) is pretty strong
so I ask that they get my attention before talking to me if I'm wearing headphones but they don't do that and say it's ridiculous and that they shouldn't have to keep repeating themselves and they don't understand that its not just volume but I can't understand them if I'm listening to something at the same time like even without headphones if two people are taking to me at once all I hear is audio static what do I do? Am I being an ass hole and should just not listen to things?
I don't wanna return and get new headphones because I got these at a really good deal and they are really nice. We're also moving from one side of America to the other at the moment idk if that means anything.
I tried asking them to try on the headphones so they can hear what I hear but all I got was "no I'm not doing that" I don't know what to do. Whenever they're wearing headphones or earbuds I'll tap them and wait to get their attention because I understand that they can't hear. I don't get why grown adults can't understand this. Am i just being childish??
