Zdravo,

Zanima me kako ste vi pristupili ovome (ako jeste).

  • Kako ste izračunali ukupne troškove? Šta ste sve uzeli u obzir?
  • Kako ste procenili mesečne/godišnje troškove (gorivo, održavanje, osiguranje, registracija itd.)?
  • Kako ste procenili nepredviđene troškove (kvarovi, veći servisi)?
  • Kako ste procenili pad vrednosti tokom vremena?
  • Ako ste uvozili auto: kako ste procenili troškove (porezi, homologacija, transport itd.)?

Zanima me kako ste vi pristupili tome (ako jeste).

  • Kako ste izračunali ukupne troškove? Što ste sve uzeli u obzir?
  • Kako ste procijenili mjesečne/godišnje troškove (gorivo, održavanje, osiguranje, registracija itd.)?
  • Kako ste procijenili nepredviđene troškove (kvarovi, veći servisi)?
  • Kako ste procijenili pad vrijednosti kroz vrijeme?
  • Ako ste uvozili auto: kako ste procijenili troškove (porezi, homologacija, transport itd.)?

Hi,

I am currently in the process of buying a car and trying to make the decision as financially responsible as possible. Instead of only looking at the purchase price, I would like to estimate the total cost of ownership over, for example, 5–8 years.

I am interested in how you approached this, especially from the perspective of calculating costs.

  • How did you calculate the total cost of ownership? What did you include?
  • How did you estimate yearly/monthly costs (fuel, maintenance, insurance, registration)?
  • How did you approach unexpected costs (failures, major services)?
  • Did you take depreciation into account? How did you estimate it?
  • If you imported a vehicle: how did you handle import-related costs (taxes, homologation, transport, etc.)?
  • How accurate do you think your estimates were in practice?
  • Did anything surprise you (underestimated costs, wrong assumptions)?
  • How did you decide between cash / loan / leasing and why?
  • Did you set a maximum monthly or yearly budget for the car?
  • Did you consult with a mechanic or an expert before buying, and did that influence your cost estimation or choice of vehicle?

I would like to calculate the cost of owning a car as systematically as possible, not just roughly, so that nothing surprises me later. Does anyone have a more structured approach?

Thank you!

Hi,

I am in the process of buying a car (new or used) and I’m choosing between a few options. Although I am a car enthusiast and willing to spend a bit more than the average person, I want to do this in a financially responsible way. Since the cost of owning a car is not just the purchase price, I would like to roughly estimate how much each car would cost me over time, from purchase to resale (total cost of ownership).

I am interested in how you approached this (if you did).

  • How did you calculate the total cost? What did you include?
  • How did you estimate monthly/yearly costs (fuel, maintenance, insurance, registration etc.)?
  • How did you estimate unexpected costs (failures, major services)?
  • How did you estimate depreciation over time?
  • If you imported a car: how did you estimate costs (taxes, homologation, transport, etc.)?
  • If I missed anything, please mention it.

Regarding estimates and reality:

  • How accurate do you think your estimates were in practice?
  • Did anything surprise you (significantly higher costs, something you overlooked)?

Car purchase:

  • How did you decide between leasing / loan / cash?
  • Did you set a maximum monthly cost that you did not want to exceed?

Consultation:

  • Did you consult with a mechanic or someone knowledgeable about cars before buying?
  • Did that help with cost estimation or your decision?

I have a feeling that most people do this more “by feel” and then get surprised later. If anyone approached this in a more structured way, I would be interested in your approach.

Thank you!
