If I understand this correctly if I were to get a compromise and release from SCIF I would use those funds to pay for medical care for my specific injury. What happens if those funds are exhausted, will Medicare ( I am retired) then pay?

Assuming I have a lawyer, are their fees recovered from that payout?

Thanks, trying to navigate this system.

EDIT: The reason I am looking into C&R is I no longer live in CA and no doctors here (Ohio) take SCIF and I need to be seen by a doctor.

I worked for the State and while employed was injured twice (back in 1997 and shoulder in 2006) and have 2 cases with SCIF. In both, I was awarded future medical. I retired from the State and moved to Ohio. I recently needed care for my back and there are no doctors near me that will take comp from California. I am unsure what I need to do from here. Do I have any options? My lawyer was a solo practitioner and has retired so I have no legal representation.
