Hi Reddit community. I need some advice / insight on an encounter I had with someone over the weekend. I attended Stage Coach with a small group of friends. At the festival, I (F 24 yo) met someone (M 33 yo). we started talking, exchanged contacts, met at the festival the next day, etc., and we had a good time. He kept telling my friends and me to stay and that he'd fly us home. Although it was tempting, we did not go through w that; and, nonetheless, we have no idea who this guy is. He is from CA, and I am from VA (so total opposite sides of the country). After traveling home on Monday, we were texting, and he pitched the idea to visit him in CA at some point. I didn't take it seriously until he was literally browsing through flights online. I, being as adventurous and opportunistic as one can be (and who wouldn't agree to a free flight to CA?), was all for it. So we chose a weekend that works for both of us, and he booked the flight, sent me the information, and I travel back in about a month... as simple as that.
To give some insight on how I'm feeling - I'm excited; I love traveling the way it is, and I had a fun time with this guy. However, my friends, family, and I must consider the possibility that he has some sort of motive to kidnap or sell me (basically any motive with bad intentions). Although that is a valid concern, let's eliminate that from the equation when I ask you guys (preferably a male's POV due to the situation but females please feel free!): why exactly would a man just so willingly buy a flight ticket for someone to go visit him just 2 days after meeting them? He didn't seem like head over heels for me… and he’s not the best texter…? Moreover, if I do go through w it, what should I expect, if anything? I’ll go w the flow of course and enjoy the area and have fun, but subconsciously, I feel like I’d have some expectations. Just looking for some insight from you guys.
