This is more like a question/rant post cause I'm tired of kpop fans, especially armys (the ones I've encountered recently) try to justify the fact that their rappers can't sing by the fact that they're supposed to rap only.
This is totally wrong, cause rappers are required to know how to sing first and then rap. Just look at doja cat, Meghan thee stallion, Kanye west and Kendrick Lamar if we want to talk about global artists (a lot more too ofc).
If we want to look in K-pop, just look at TOP, Mark, Taeyong, Mingi, Hongjoong, Changkyun, Joohoney, Soyeon, Giselle + a loooot more.
Why is singing such a taboo for rappers in kpop? Its literally the basis of everything. I'm not saying they should hit Mariah Carey notes, but at least the basic ones..
Im saying this cause I saw armys dragging NCT rapline trying to defend bts one by saying that they should only rap and singing ain't their role in the group - so they aren't required to know how to do it
What do you think? You think rappers should be able to sing too or not?
