Nursing suspension??? Looking for advice
One of my coworkers told me that I was on a list of people who are supposedly “up for investigation” because the wound nurse reported us for not changing the sacral dressing for a patient for two weeks. This patient has a big history of being non compliant, not letting us do anything including head to toe assessments but only letting us at max turn her. We are on the list because some of us did not document the patient having a wound (there was no wound treatment on the TAR) and not documenting certain refusals. My friend said that the ADON and educator told her that management doesn’t know what they want to do yet but it could be grounds for permanent write up, or full blown suspension or termination.
The patients wound had no change in condition, and I don’t think the patient even actually made a complaint. My friend also said that she suspects that the wound care nurse changed the TAR and added a wound care order to the time that they are accusing to cover herself. Realistically what should I prepare for, how do I prepare, and should I be losing my absolute mind over this?
