I (30F) live in a one bedroom apartment with my 2-year old small dog. My dog has been trained, neutered, and has a set routine due to my work schedule. He goes to daycare some days out of the month. My parents (50s) and sister (20s) have his litter mate (never been trained, not fixed, or any daycare experience).

My parents and sister have gone out of state for 3 days/1 night for my sister’s graduation (I couldn’t go due to work). I agreed to watch their dog since he is so well behaved and has extreme anxiety when boarded. He plays well with my dog, but sometimes things can get rowdy.

Around 8:30 last night my refrigerator unit light went out. I purchased a lightbulb hoping that it would be an easy fix. Sadly, it was not. My refrigerator will have to be replaced and maintenance did not give me a set time.

My dog is not a fan of most men due to the environment he was in before I got him. I attempted to get him a daycare stay, but they were all booked up. The only possible solution was day boarding.

I didn’t want to board my dog because I know how stressful it can be and because he’s been playing with his brother for the last two days, I figured it would be an even more stressful situation.

I called the only relative close by and explained my predicament to her. She understood but explained she could only take one dog. My relative has watched my dog several times and would have preferred watching him.

I ultimately made the decision to board my dog for a few hours today and had my relative watch my parents dog since it would’ve been a process to board their dog.

AITA for asking my parents to pay half of the boarding bill? I wouldn’t have to board my dog if I wasn’t watching their dog. I couldn’t board their dog because I don’t have proper documentation.
