It seems that after the first couple of recent rains of the season here in the Upstate SC, these tiny little ant piles (and some actually not all that tiny) started spawning in my yard. This whole thing is a project already working on killing the weeds, but now to add to the laundry list of things these ants hills look to multiply more and more by the day.

What is the best way to rid these things? I do have a dog I take in the yard for reference on any timing considerations for poison.

With the warmer months ahead of us now, there seems to be no shortage of projects around the property - so I decided the 556 needed a refresh too.
