Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my current road trip setup, specifically the sleeping platform I built for my car. I’ve been traveling like this for a while now, and getting the sleep situation right made a *huge* difference.

The goal was simple: something stable, comfortable, and easy to set up without turning my car into a permanent camper. I ended up building a modular wooden platform that sits in the back with the seats folded down. It’s split into sections, so I can remove parts if I need space during the day.

On top, I use a foldable mattress (around 8–10 cm thick), which honestly feels better than some hostels I’ve stayed in.

It’s not the fanciest build out there, but it’s practical, stealthy, and comfortable enough for long trips.

If anyone’s thinking about doing something similar and has questions, feel free to ask. I also wrote a step-by-step guide for the whole setup if you’re interested 👍

I’d had the idea for a long time to turn my car into a small, flexible sleeping setup – just being able to hit the road, stay somewhere spontaneously, and still sleep comfortably. Most of the solutions I found were either super expensive or only designed for one specific car. That’s exactly what bothered me.

So I started tinkering on my own.

After a few attempts, it turned into a DIY project I’m really proud of: a modular camping box, or car bed, that can be surprisingly easily adapted to different vehicles. The key idea is that the whole system is based on just four basic measurements. This makes it possible to customize it to your own car without having to redesign everything from scratch every time.

It was important to me that it’s not just functional, but also practical for everyday use: sturdy enough to sleep on, quick to install and remove, and with enough storage space underneath for everything you need on the road. That’s exactly what I achieved with it.

While building it, I documented the entire process and structured it in a way that allows others to recreate it just as easily – without complicated constructions or special tools.

If that sounds interesting to you:

I turned it into a detailed DIY guide, which you can find in my Etsy store. With it, you can build the same sleeping platform step by step and adapt it to your own car.

For me, this project was a real game changer – just getting into the car and going, without much planning. That’s exactly the feeling I wanted to make possible.

Hello everyone,

I’ve just launched my Etsy shop, and today marks day eight. So far, I still haven’t received any reviews. These are my current visits and views, and I’ve only made one sale up to now.

Is this normal for a new shop? Does the conversion rate typically improve over time? And how would you evaluate my number of visits—would you consider them high, low, or about average?

I’d really appreciate any insights or experiences you can share!
