Is It worth it to become an art teacher in this economy ? (Us based)

Hello, I come from a social work background, but I am thinking of making a change towards art education. However, I consistently keep reading about how art teachers are being cut from school budgets. I also read some data that there are 1/3 less art teachers employed now than in 2011. These numbers are shocking and upsetting, so I have to ask; is it even worth trying to pursue? In my area, every art teaching job at a school is only part time (I’m based in Pennsylvania) are there any changes in this trend?

Is it possible to find employment as a new art teacher? For various other reasons, I am also looking into moving to Europe in a few years if that is relevant.

Thank you

Social work jobs for macro-oriented practitioners that include benefits? (US based)

Hi all, I am near finished with my BSW, and will be going on to get my MSW. I have decided I do not want to pursue strictly a micro route, but rather a mezzo/macro route would be best for me and my interests. However, any social work job that suits these levels of practice are either: a.) based in large cities. or b.) pay terribly with little benefits - I’m talking no 401k or insurance.

I am unsure what to do. I would prefer something in a small city location, that has benefits and pays over 60k+ annually (after being settled into the position). I do not know where that will take me. I am interested in healthcare (not hospital social work), working with newly released incarcerated people, people of all ages and abilities, LGBTQ+ people, community based interventions (being vague intentionally), education, working with refugees, policy, substance prevention and education, human rights and international SOWK.

I know this is broad; my interest encompass most areas of social work practice outside of the strictly micro setting.

Any recommendations for areas/jobs postgrad that would satisfy these areas?
