Rabies Exposure Anxiety
I had what I thought was a potential exposure 5 weeks ago. I had crazy suspicious marks on my upper thigh three days after traveling home from a Caribbean island. There were bat or mouse droppings in the room and we slept with window open one night but never saw a bat.
I saw urgent care and talked to health department and they said no need for treatment since neither I nor anyone in my group saw a bat. I took that as final truth and haven’t thought too much about it since.
Obviously I was already anxious and jumping to conclusions when all this happened. Now, 5 weeks later, I’m feeling sick. Nausea, no appetite, had a migraine yesterday, and the worst is imagining tingling at the site. I’ve been feeling sick all day and just googling about this, making things worse. Scared of getting neurologically worse instead of just getting over whatever other virus I must have. I understand I was cleared by professionals and never encountered a rabid animal. But I am absolutely so upset.
Any encouraging comments would be appreciated. The past two days, I have just been trying to direct my attention elsewhere but I’m really spiraling and panicking every couple hours since I’m feeling sick.
