Hi everyone, my mom is autistic she was diagnosed around 2 years ago at age 45. After the diagnosis we finally understood why it was difficult for her to keep a job. The longest she'd last would be around a year (even that'd be rare) before she'd get let go for making a mistake in the workplace. I helped her file for disability but she keeps getting denied but we keep appealing. Regardless, my mom is a hard worker and hates being home all the time. Its getting to the point where its making her depressed. She's tried fast food and warehouses but she just can't get the hang of certain things, which makes it difficult for her to even find a job. Most of her work history is her in janitorial positions because she cant really comprehend working with machinery or pattern recognition (for recipes). ANYWAYS my main reason for reaching out here is because I want to help her find a job that won't be too difficult for her to manage, and one that she'll last in. Is there any resources I can look into? Any programs? Or assistance for people with disabilities? I used to work at Walmart and the associates that had disabilities had their own "coaches" in a sense. I'm not too sure how it works, all i know is that the coaches would come every few days, supervise for bit and then leave. Essentially, i'm looking to see if there's anything similar to that elsewhere. Any help would be amazing. I love my mom so much, and I just hate to see her so depressed and low in self esteem. :(
