A potential issue (among many) with antinatalism
I preface with saying I agree with antinatalism. Staunchly. That is not to say this ideology is devoid of problems. One such problem that just occured to me I figured I would share to see what others thought about it.
Let's say the goal of convincing everyone to not procreate was reached. So the generation who decides to do that would be the last. I agree that in many ways that would be compassionate to the unborn. However it runs into a lot of issues because now resources are finite. There are no new people. People in their 20s are hot commodities (I hope I don't need to explain), economies collapse unless otherwise constructed, if everyone at one point is old, you are going to have a lot of problems that can only be solved with young people (elder care) that can't be done by older people. Etc. how would we avoid problems like that? If we are to say suffering is wrong, as I do, would that not create suffering to end suffering? Is that not contradictory?
