Just go into this new way of fishing this past week! Haven’t even wet a line yet! I went to fish camp with my family and came back with a new rod from my Uncle! Fits good for a centerpin! 9ft St. Croix ! I bought a Sword Piscifun off Amazon for cheap! Looking for any and all tips and tricks. Any good advice to help a fresh 30 year old!

For context; I’ve done a lot of bass fishing, I am really into trout fishing and love to play around with fly fishing. Gaining new experiences and techniques is all part of the love for the sport. I love to fish, not catch, how do you cast this damn thing!? lol!

It was the end of my shift and I’m just cleaning up and heading home. A family of three, mom dad and son, all came up to me and asked me “hey we got a question about Flowers!” They carried on to tell me that this was their first time gardening. Their son was looking at getting into gardening and needed some advice about how to start things. So I gave them the full rundown!

I took them around the garden center showing them various plants and introducing them to first time gardening ideas! Their son was a bit shy at first, but the more we talked I could see he was blossoming with excitement! I took them over to plants I was going to put on clearance racks and showed them what a distressed plant looked like. I got my little snips out and gave them a little demonstration on how to properly deadhead and cull plants. I even handed over my snips to their son for him to actually experience that process!

I could see their thoughts, expanding as they asked me more questions. Overall, it was just a cool experience. I was able to share every detail that I have learned about my job with a customer. It didn’t really feel like I was selling anything, I was more showing a process of how to care for different sort of life. We all shook hands and parted ways.

But I can’t stop thinking about that experience. It was nice to be able to step away from my job and show them some of my knowledge. I even showed them how to take pictures of plants and identify them with their iPhone! I encouraged them to look up information about plants they wanted to garden!

I know where we ate in the hundred days of hell so I decided to break up this sub Reddit with a good experience I had! Working in retail definitely has its ups and downs, and left and rights, especially being in the mulch pit all day. Moments like these were were able to break up our days and connect with another human is rewarding. I felt as though I’ve done my job well enough and that I could share a bit of it with someone.. thank you for whoever’s reading this.
