Why tear up the store?

Dear customers,

why do you guys have to destroy our stores? Spray paint our shelving and floors when we give you places to test it? Tear open contractor packs for one item when the box if what you want is already open? Why be such pricks to us about self checkout? Why treat us like we're subhuman?

Quit Lowe’s today!

Been having some problems with this guy in fulfillment he’s been talking down to me and talking sh*t behind my back about me and thinks he’s the best guy in the world. Decided to fill out a HR request and went through that process and the steps they took were to promote him to a millwork specialist and now I was left with an 80 year old and a 65 year old who can’t lift more than 20 pounds. Terrible company to work for.

Putting in my notice at Lowe's after 2 years because "Managers" aren't "Leaders".

I finally put my notice ina few days ago and I’ve never felt more relieved, but I’ve also been feeling a little sad about it. I know how much I could have helped this place, and honestly, I know how much this place actually needs me right now. But today, I just proved exactly why I’m leaving.

I’ve been at Lowe’s for two years. I have Crohn's disease, and honestly, I was already burnt out before I even took my current role. I used to be a self-checkout and main line cashier, and I moved to Customer Service, hoping for a change of pace. I’ve been open about needing basic support for my health, but instead, I’m being neglected, ignored, and shoved into positions that aren't even my job.

Technically, my job is Customer Service. But they have me running the front end like a Head Cashier—without the title, the pay, or the actual system authority to fix anything. I’m stuck at the desk acting as a human buffer for every override and complaint, while the actual managers are nowhere to be found. I can't even do the things people are asking me to do because I don't have the access, but the cashiers still expect me to figure it all out.

What makes it even worse is that it’s not just me. I’m watching them run my other cashiers into the ground too. One of the girls on my main line is new, and they are working her even harder than they ever worked me—and that is saying something after my two years here. It’s only gotten bad like this in the last couple of months. We actually used to have fewer people and we still got our breaks back then. Now, we have more people on staff, and yet we’re not getting our breaks at all.

Today was the final straw. Not only did I not get a lunch, but almost all of my cashiers missed most of their breaks and barely got their lunches. It’s awful to watch them exploit people while we can’t even get a minute to handle a pee break or anything like that. I’m sitting here cramping and in physical pain because they refuse to work with me.

It’s infuriating because I know I could fix the workflow of this place in a heartbeat and people would be so much happier, but I don't even care anymore. I’ve realized Lowe’s has plenty of "managers" but zero leaders. The worst part is that I truly love my coworkers. They are the ones in the trenches with me every day, and it breaks my heart to leave them in this mess. Despite how I'm being treated, I’ve always been loyal to this store and wanted it to succeed—it’s a shame that a place with so much potential is run by people who don't care about the humans who keep the doors open.

I really need to stick it out financially until May 1st, even though honoring this notice period feels like a gamble with my health. Has anyone else dealt with being used as a "fake" Head Cashier while being denied basic medical accommodations? I’m about ready to just walk...

Am I cooked?

I’m working lumber cashier today and got a really rude customer who was trying to purchase an order with an in-store credit. I scan her ID and tell her that the credit isn’t under her ID so therefore she can’t use it. She asks a few questions like “we’re pros here, is there anyway we could bypass it because idk if it’s under my name or my mom’s name?” And “Is there a way I can check?” So I ask my head cashier. The head says “no” to both (obviously) and there’s no way to override it, so she starts saying stuff like “This is why we should’ve went to Home Depot. I’m a Pro at both stores and I don’t have any issues there.”

As she leaves, I tell her “have fun at Home Depot”. She turns and immediately goes “Excuse me?”. I just shrug and she says “If you love your job you’d love Home Depot too.” The customers after wonder what happened and agreed that my response was appropriate. Am I cooked?

Should I be worried?

I recently started working at Lowe’s (orientation was on the 27th, officially started on the floor last week) and told my interviewer I wanted full time. I know it’s still early in my career here, but I haven’t even hit 20 hours a week yet. I’m kind of getting worried because if I don’t work at least 30 hours a week, I may get evicted. What should I do? Is this normal?

Should have bought the long bed; extra, extra long bed.

“Load it on up. Yes, I’m sure.” Unfortunately, I was leaving before I got to see exactly how they made this work.

SICK OF DEP MANAGER

i stg no matter what i do how i do it this guy just cant get enough of chewing me out. I work in lumber and every single day that I’m scheduled with our manager its like every time he sees me he has something to critique and give me shit about. today i was asked to fill our siding i had like 9 12 foot boxes and a few skinnier boxes so like 13 boxes in total. i emptied them out got all of it on the shelf and went to receiving to throw the boxes in the compactor which of course my manager is pretty much waiting there for me. i didn’t want to run the compactor 3 times because that takes a while and if i just try and fold these big ass boxes as is only like 3 fit so i cut a few of them in half to make it easier on me and the machine to which he saw me do and said “you’re wasting time just fold em up and get them in this is stupid” like ok? i told him ive done this a bunch of times before and i have to keep running the compactor and its just annoying and more time consuming than what i was doing which he pretty much just told me is bullshit and to do it the way he said too or else im wasting time so i did it the way he asked. 15 minutes IT TOOK ME 15 MINUTES to put the boxes in there because mr jackass thinks if its not happening his way its not correct. and this is nowhere near the first time im just over it. Yesterday he did the same thing pretty much i was culling some lumber because alot of the bunks were like 80% cull so i grabbed an H cart and started filling it up with culled shit then here comes jackass to tell me “Why would u get an H cart when u can just bring the whole cull cart it has wheels for a reason? THE CULL CART WAS LIKE 3 MILLION POUNDS and the wheels suck rolling it around is literally the worst and it barely fits into the aisle with customers around but since jackass said it i had to do it that way so i did and it took me forever (which he gave me shit about) like im rlly getting sick of this i get my shit done and i do it effectively but hes screwing me over with all these new rules he makes up on the spot which i swear is just to fuck w me do better managers do better.

Installed by lowe’s

Help? 🥲 I’ve had this brand new washer and dryer for 5 months and there’s definitely water sitting in it. Bought from Lowe’s and of course they delivered and installed. Is the drain hose supposed to be at an upward 90° angle? I can’t tell if the hose then dips below that point, at the very least it’s level with it.

I’m not an avid Reddit user so if anyone has a better idea of where else to post this I’d appreciate it!

Is the Lowe’s HomeCare+ membership ($99/year) actually worth it?

I’m looking into the Lowe’s HomeCare+ membership. It’s $99 per year and includes two "pro" visits annually, where you can select a variety of maintenance services (up to 7, according to their list).

The two things I’m most interested in are:

  • Electric dryer vent cleaning
  • Garage door lubrication

In my area, just getting a pro out to clean a dryer vent usually costs around $150. If this membership covers that twice a year for $99, the math seems to work out heavily in my favor.

I’m trying to figure out if I’m missing anything or if there are specific "gotchas":

  • Service Depth: For those who have used it, how thorough is the dryer vent cleaning? Is it a full brush-out or just a quick vacuum?
  • Scheduling: Is it difficult to actually get an appointment booked through the Lowe’s portal?
  • Exclusions: Are there hidden fees (like a "destination fee") or limits on duct length for the cleaning?
  • Experience: If you’ve signed up, has it saved you money, or is it more of a hassle than it's worth?

I’d love to hear from anyone who has actually had the techs out to their house for this. Thanks!

Anyone Know What These Extra Rods Are For?

Finished putting together my porch furniture and I just want to check - these 2 extra, plain metal steel tubes, plastic caps on both ends, were in the box for packaging rigidity right? They weren't mentioned in the instructions.

Bonus: what should I do with these tubes.

Partners leave for our wedding declined

Me and my partner are planning to get married the month after next in vegas. I’m from UK and booked 2 weeks there but they’re saying he can’t take this much time off.

Is there anything we can do about this? It’s not the end of the world to have a few days in vegas by myself if he can get some time but surely for a wedding 😂

Tired (Philly Aramingo)

Every time I go to purchase something locked up it’s a 15-30min wait for an employee with a key. 10 workers will walk by and they all say it’s not my job or someone is coming to let you in. I’m now at the point where I won’t wait and I will go to HD or Amazon to buy it. And I know I’m not the only one as I have stood in front of many locked areas with other people who were more annoyed than me.

Last Friday I went to buy a pocket knife. Asked for assistance first thing as I walked in. They said someone will be over. At the same time someone was asking to get into the electrical tools and they asked someone else who I also asked for help. I then asked a 3rd person. At this point it’s been 5 min. I decide I’m not waiting. I go shop for other stuff. I walk by 10-15 min later and the poor guy is still waiting in front of the electrical tools. Here the managers car is wrapped with plastic wrap outside as it’s there last day. I hope that means this will get better?
