Captiva 5 2012 knob removal guide with disassembly photos

Hi just posting this for others down the line. I couldn't find info on this going in so I documented it for the next person.

The gear knob (at least my one) has 2 clips and the circlip. All of these need to be removed to get the knob off.
On this knob there is not allen key or bolt tightening.

- First push the silver collar down, you might need to help it with a pry or something be careful though as it's plastic.
You then need to remove the fake leather outside. You can pop off the silver back plate in the same way as the collar. It just has a couple of clips holding it on.
- Second you need to remove the cover. The fake leather is tucked into the plastic mold around that silver plate. Gently pull it out and off. You can use a flat head or something if it gets stuck.

Once all the above is off, there is a large plastic clip that needs to be removed, followed by a smaller plastic clip at the base where the collar is that should now be visible the fake leather is off.

- Lastly now you have the two plastic clips off, the circlip should be showing and once you pop it off the knob comes completely off.

I found a 2010 Captiva knob at the wreckers (the one that uses allen keys) and just note it's tolerances is slightly smaller than the gear shaft. I just used a sander to work down the half ml or so and with some effort got the knob on and she's good.
