Hi! I’m pretty new to wavy hair care and I’m trying to figure out what actually works for my hair type. I think I’m around 1C–2A with a bit of 2B in some sections, so my hair isn’t super curly but definitely not straight either.

Right now, my routine is really basic and I feel like it’s not giving me the best results. In the shower, I shampoo with Pantene, then apply conditioner and brush through my hair while it’s still in to detangle. I leave that in for a couple of minutes, then rinse it out while scrunching my hair to encourage waves. After I get out, while my hair is still soaking wet, I used the Shea Moisture curl cream for the first time and scrunched again. I usually just let it air dry after that.

The problem is that the curl cream feels way too heavy for my hair and kind of weighs it down. I also struggle a lot with frizz, and my hair can get greasy pretty quickly, which I want to avoid.

I have been looking into the Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk line, but I’m not sure if it’s right for my hair type. I’ve seen mixed reviews about the gel being too sticky or heavy, especially for wavy hair. I’ve also heard people talk about using just mousse ,or mousse + gel and which order the mousse and gel go but I don’t really understand what would work best for me.

So I guess my questions are:

  • Would the Curl Talk range work for 1C–2A/2B hair?
  • Is gel, mousse, or mousse + gel better for loose waves?
  • How do you actually reduce frizz without making your hair greasy or weighed down?

Any advice or beginner-friendly routines would really help! Thanks :)
