Who here really thinks they would have killed Rhaenyra’s siblings if she ascended peacefully?
I see this debate constantly pop up. I dont know why anyone thinks there is evidence they would have killed Rhaenyra’s siblings. People seem to forget that the most common way to pacify another family is to take hostages. I personally think Jaehaerys would become a ward and end up as Daemons squire or Rhaenyra’s cupbearer, much like Otto suggested for Rhaenyras sons once the opportunity to kill them had passed.
Rhaenyra was watered down and made much softer than the books and Daemon for all his faults wouldnt want to be thought of as a kinslayer without there being any provocation. He had a long time to kill Alicents children if he really intended to, and never did. Personally I dont think he viewed any of them as a threat aside from Aemond, and thats only because he had Vhagar.
I think people forget Theon Greyjoy and how common it was to subdue your rivals through marriage, taking hostages, etc. The jump to “Daemon kill everyone” is kind of wild to me honestly. Im not for either faction but this debate always puzzles me when it pops up because there are so many options aside from “kill everyone”.
Idk do you think Rhaenyra and Daemon take hostages or do you really think they gank everyone even if she ascended peacefully, even though they would truly be looked at as worse than Maegor?
