The shape of heart

I took to drawing a heart
and when the outline
was messy,
i thought I'd restart
until I get the perfect frame
and the perfect heart.

but then it struck me,
even love isn't perfect,
for the imperfection
makes it purer,
not the shiny outline.
or the perfect curves.

so why do we chase
the idea of the perfect heart,
for love isn't in the perfect shiny places
that are visible to all.
but in the dark messy places
that are solely reserved for thee.

If I was

if I was the sun,
and you were feeling cold,
I'd shine my damn brightest,
just to make you warm.

if I was the moon,
and the night looked solemn,
I'd collect all the stars,
and make it bright from afar.

if I was the rain,
and it was unbearably hot for you,
I'd drench all the clouds dry,
and make everything cool.

but alas,
I'm just a human,
and so I do have my limits.

and so, if you're not feeling the best,
I won't climb to the sun, or the moon,
I'd sit besides you, hear you out.
make you some tea.

then I'd hug you,
absorb all your demons,
and I'll just say,
im a human, and I belong to you.

Nothing more left to say

I kept moving,

even when there was no path,

and life led me astray.

I kept going,

even when there were seeds of doubt,

and I kept holding onto my way.

Your presence made life

come to a standstill, suddenly

there's no black and white, but a lot of gray.

you made me appreciate

the awkward silences, and the deep pauses,

a gentle smile, showing me the light of day.

and so I kept holding on,

to the thought of you being perfect,

but alas you were but a human.

and so I couldn't let go,

the image of you I had built,

I wept, wanting you to stay.

but alas, an image is just an illusion,

and now, I'm shell-shocked,

with nothing more left to say.
