Thank you PSG

Hello everyone,

I am a PAOK supporter from Greece and today our club celebrates 100 years of history.

On this day, I felt the need to come here and express something more than just a simple thank you. I want to show my genuine admiration for the PSG supporters.

The banner you raised in memory of our seven victims of the tragic accident in Romania near Timișοara on their way to Lyon was not just a gesture. It was something powerful, something that shows the character and values of your fanbase.

As someone who supports a different club, in a different country, I can honestly say that moments like this make me respect you even more. This is what football culture should be about. Not only passion and intensity, but also empathy, awareness and humanity.

What you did went beyond your club. It reached people who had no direct connection to you, and that is something truly special. It shows that the PSG supporters are not just known for their presence and energy, but also for their heart.

From Thessaloniki to beautiful and overcrowded Paris, merci beaucoup 🖤🤍❤️💙

How's your work life balance?

Hey all,

Non-French here, I've made a post a few days ago sharing a friends experience about life in Paris, curious about what day-to-day work life actually looks like in France beyond the stereotypes.

What do you do for work, and how’s your work-life balance in practice? Do you actually disconnect after hours, or is there still pressure to stay online / responsive?

Also, how much vacation do you realistically take, and do people around you actually use all their time off?

And overall, are you happy with your situation, or does it depend heavily on the job/industry? Do you do hobbies after finishing job?

Where to start searching?

Hi everyone,

I’m 21 years old and recently I’ve been thinking a lot about my family history. I’m very close with my father, and we’ve always had a strong bond. Lately, we’ve started talking about something we’d really like to do together, which is trying to trace our family tree.

We’re from Greece, and like many people know, there were huge waves of internal migration during the 20th century, especially toward Athens. The city grew dramatically over the decades, and today the greater Athens area is home to around 5.2 million people, which is nearly half the country’s population. Because of that massive movement from rural areas into the capital, many family roots became harder to trace over time, including ours.

At the moment, we only have reliable information going back to my grandfather and a little bit before him, but beyond that things become unclear. We don’t really know exactly which village or region our family originally comes from, or how far back we might be able to trace our line.

What we do know is that we’d like to start specifically from my paternal grandfather’s side, focusing on the lineage that carries our surname. My grandfather unfortunately passed away in 2018 at the age of 87. His sisters are still alive, with the eldest being 93 years old, and my grandmother is 85, but she doesn’t really have much detailed information about the older generations. For now, I don’t plan to explore her side of the family tree yet, since it feels much more complex and I’d prefer to focus on one branch at a time.

From what little we know, my great-grandfather (my grandfather’s father, and the father of my 93-year-old great-aunt) was born and raised in a very small village in northern Phthiotida. That is essentially the starting point we have, and where we want to begin our research.

So the idea is to start from my father’s paternal line, going back through the ancestors who carry our surname, and try to build the tree step by step from there.

The problem is, we honestly don’t know where to begin.

If anyone has experience with genealogy in Greece or has started from scratch before, I’d really appreciate any advice on the first steps, what kinds of records or archives are worth looking into, and how to deal with the gaps caused by internal migration.

Thanks a lot in advance, it really means a lot to both of us.
