Good spots to hang out on river/stream boulders?

I love just chilling on boulders in a river or a stream. My go-to is the Wild River that parallels 113, but would love to hear of other spots!

What are some nearby spots with rivers that have boulders in the river big enough to sit on, and an easy way to get to those boulders?

I love relaxing on a boulder in a river, but I only know good spots in mountain valleys.

Are there good closer spots?

How to meet crunchy hikers in their thirties?

Exploring different groups, like Get After It, AMC Young Members, Sierra Club. Am I missing anything? Strong preference for "Ooooh nature is awesome" over obsessing about gear, miles, and elevation.

Late 30's, lived in Portland, Maine for many years, looking for smaller, cheaper, and crunchier

I'm interested in moving within New England ideally but open to other options, definitely want lots of nature access (big forests), the ability to make other friends in their 30's and particularly people who are into nature in at least somewhat of a spiritual way (like not just into miles/elevation/the sport of it), much cheaper rent than Portland, a smaller population than Portland (town rather than city), and bonus points for a weird/alternative creative scene. I've been suggested these spots, and would love to hear from people who've lived there or visited before. Would also love to hear some other suggestions if you think other places might fit. Thank you!

North Adams, MA
Keene, NH
Montpelier, VT
Greenfield, MA
Troy, NY
Northampton, MA

I'm not quite ready to make the link public yet, but I'm using the Creative Commons BY-SA license with the musical I wrote. Basically that means there's no licensing fee if anyone wants to produce it, and anyone can modify the book/music, as long as the new work is also released under the same license.

I'm planning on having an organized repository that houses and tracks the different versions that people write (if anyone does end up modifying it!).

Obviously if by some miracle it becomes really popular, I'll be leaving a lot of money on the table, but it also makes it super accessible to any/all groups that might otherwise not be able to afford a license fee.

Accessibility is a big one for me, but also the idea that someone could totally change the setting and make major changes to the plot, or add new songs, or do a million things also feels cool and exciting.

Obviously completely understand why most people would not do this with their musical, but I'm curious about how people feel about it. Would you change portions of other musicals if you could?
