This might be a silly question, but how do people afford aviation after finishing their PPL in the UK? Are there any loan options, especially if you’re unemployed, supporting your family, and still trying to find a job? Should I stop chasing this goal, or is there still a way to make it work?

Hi,

I began my aviation journey on 26 January 2026, and I’m pleased to share that I passed my PPL skills test yesterday.

I’m now planning to start my ATPL studies. I have already purchased ATPLQ and intend to get BGS as well. Based on your experience, I would really appreciate your advice on the most effective order to study the subjects and how many exams you would recommend taking per sitting.

Additionally, if someone is working around 40 hours per week alongside studying, how long would you estimate it typically takes to complete all ATPL exams?

Thank you in advance. I would be grateful to hear your insights and any recommendations you may have.
