I live in DFW area in Texas and was trying to look up photos of the tornado that swept through Runaway Bay on Saturday night as one of our friends homes was hit. I went to Facebook since a lot of storm chasers and news outlets post there first. I got so many Ai generated jesus posts, pictures of last year's tornados, and just general nonsense that has nothing to do with Runaway or severe weather. How is it that in 2026 Facebook has still not optimized their search engine?
What makes it stand above the rest in terms of suck is that you can't filter results at all. You can ask for recent posts but that includes posts from like 2 months ago. Also, the sheer amount of bot activity and AI generated posts is insane. WAY too much to sort through. Are people actually sorting through this junk or just mindlessly scrolling?
I am only ever on FB Marketplace and I just can't believe FB has such a large user base with a platform this outdated and frustrating to use? And to go through all of that just to have your private information stolen and sold, why do people do it?
