I just finished watching Family by Choice, and of course, I couldn't help but compare it to the original C-drama, Go Ahead. Both stories are so heartwarming, but they definitely have different "flavors".
For those who have seen both versions, I’m curious to hear your thoughts!

My personal take:
• Go Ahead (2020): I felt like the C-drama had more time to breathe (40 episodes!). The childhood segments felt so organic, and the "found family" bond was incredibly deep. The dad characters were the absolute soul of this show for me.

• Family by Choice (2024): The K-drama version felt more "polished" and faster-paced (16 episodes). I loved the cinematography and how they adapted the cultural nuances to fit Korea. The chemistry between Hwang In-youp, Jung Chae-yeon, and Bae Hyun-sung was great, but it felt a bit more focused on the romance earlier on.

I’d love to know:

  1. Did you prefer the long-burn storytelling of the original or the more compact K-drama version?
  2. Who was your favorite "Dad" duo?
  3. Which version of the "Big Brother" character did you relate to more?

Is it a case of "the original is always better," or did the remake actually improve on some aspects for you? Let's discuss! 🍜✨
