A quote about periods that genuinely made me pause.
I read somewhere this quote, it was beautiful.
It goes like -
menstrual blood is the only blood not spilled in violence, yet it is the blood that society is most disgusted by.
by Maia Schwartz
Is it just me or are women characters judged way harsher for “survival” decisions in shows?
I’ve been watching The Cleaning Lady, and the amount of hate Thony gets is kinda crazy to me 😭
Like yes, she makes bad decisions sometimes, but she’s literally stressed 24/7, trying to protect her child, broke, undocumented, constantly under pressure, and surrounded by dangerous people.
Meanwhile male characters in crime shows do 10x worse and people call them “badass” or “complex.”
I feel like female characters always have to be perfect for people to sympathize with them. The second they become messy or desperate everyone turns on them.
Maybe I’m overthinking it but I noticed it a lot with this show.
