As the title says, I am planning on getting a fiber internet, and I've planned on getting a plain ONU (just ethernet output, nothing else) + TpLink Archer C12 combo. Unfortunately, the production of such ONUs seems to be stopped, or atleast the stock availability here is shit, and the only options seem to be getting a Modem + Router combo device which converts fiber into wired internet as well as provide wifi.
Technically, for such GPON Modem+Router combo devices, shouldn't the LAN outlet speed match the plan specification? The service guy says that I may not be able to extract higher speeds, if the modem can only output wifi at 300mbps, even though the box clearly states gigabit ethernet. Is the service guy trying to scam me into buying a pricey modem+router combo or is it actually the case? This may sound dumb, but I'm really confused and I need clarification regarding this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
