My Christian parents’ view on sex outside marriage

They think that marital r*pe doesn’t exist because if you’re married you’re obliged to have sex whenever the other person wants to. They told me that r*pe and extramarital sex are ‘both just sins’. When I talked about the drawbacks in law when it comes to sexual offences and child abuse, they said ‘the same applies to how the laws allow unmarried people to have sex’.

I have no words.

I wasn’t a fan of the sandwich. I don’t like dairy products but they never have vegan cheese sandwich options. The coconut water also tasted weird (I think its taste changes a lot, sometimes good sometimes bad, not sure why).

Every time I told my parents about someone dying of someone’s death, including acquaintances and friends’ family members, their immediate reaction was asking me if that person is/was a Christian. If I told them no, they would then say ‘how pathetic, they’re going to suffer in hell for eternity’. There would be no expression of empathy or compassion, no words of condolences, no kind words for my friends who lost their loved ones. Even when they talked about their own parents’ death, it would be the same attitude and same words. Reformed Christians (Calvinists) by the way.
