I have a very peculiar situation and I’m pretty sure nothing can really be done but I wanted to check here to see if anyone has recommendations.
A little while back now I made a purchase on eBay that came from Canada. It came and it’s been just about a month now since the item was delivered. I’ve been occupied with things and just didn’t get around to opening it till a couple days ago.
At first I was confused as to what the package even was, it was light, felt like nothing was in there. I couldn’t recall what I ordered that would have been so light. Note I didn’t bring the item inside myself so this is the first time I’m handling the package.
I opened it and there was nothing inside, just bubble wrap. That’s when I took a closer look at the label to figure out what this even was. I contacted the seller to see if something happened, they assured me they packed the item. They have 100% positive feedback so I really doubt they tried to scam me.
The label claims it to be nearly 4 and a half pounds. I went to the ring footage and the handler delivers it with absolute ease, one handed and holding it upside down. Definitely did not weigh four pounds upon delivery. Also the label indicated the value of the item, which perhaps led someone to look inside idk. So I feel like I can only conclude that someone tampered with it on the way.
It was sealed, from the outside it looks normal, besides weighing nothing. I don’t really know what to do, I haven’t found the proper route to go through eBay for anything.
I’ve made reports to USPIS and USPs OIG but I doubt I’m gonna get anything there. I feel like this unfortunately will be a loss. I know there’s no way I’m getting the item if it really was stolen, but I was hoping that maybe I could get my money back. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s gonna happen.
And I feel bad trying to get the seller to accept a refund. They’ve been very kind and helpful when brining up the situation and if I’m right about this, they had no control over it. It’s also been so long now, I’m pretty much going to accept the loss. But I wanted to bring this up here in hopes to get any advice. Thanks.
