I’m an SO of a deployed military member. I’m no stranger to deployment of loved ones, this one is different though. And perhaps that’s why find myself so peeved and tired of hearing “stay positive.”

I can’t quite put my finger on why it feels off, maybe it feels invalidating or dismissive? It’s annoying at this point, it doesn’t really help, nor does it feel supportive. I just kinda nod my head while holding my breath before completely disengaging.

I know they all mean well, but they don’t get it and it really shows. It really seems like only people who have experienced it truly get it. I think I’m definitely looking for advice on how to handle this, but also community and support through it because it sucks.
