I'll try to keep it short: My wife and I live in an older house in Central Tacoma, and since we moved in, there is an unpleasant smell (50% sewage-ish 50% musty-ish) that arises in an upstairs bathroom/adjoining guest room that we cannot figure out. It comes sporadically and somewhat unpredictably (only trigger we notice is running the upstairs kitchen sink and/or dishwasher).
We've had plumbers come out and investigate. Ultimately, they have all ended up recommending some versions of a re-pipe of the entire house, which we are not prepared to do right now.
I'm convinced this issue can somehow be traced to a single point somewhere, but nobody seems to be willing to do the hard investigatory work to figure it out. So, maybe I'm just looking for a different plumber, but out of curiosity, is there any sort of local service that would make sense to pay to have come and find the source of this freaking smell?
