Tank is completely infested with algae. What can I do?

Hey everyone. This 20 gallon tank is completely infested with hair algae, brown beard algae, and cyanobacteria. They are covering my plants and causing nutritient deficiencies, eventually killing my anubias and java fern. They spread so rapidly that manual removal is impossible. I completely turned off the light and planning on keeping the tank in total darkness for a few days without feeding my fish. Nitrate levels are below 30 ppm and nitrite is 0. TDS is 300 ppm and pH is slightly above 7. I use potassium fertiliser but won't use it until the algae is removed. I started treating the tank with Macrol but not sure if it will work. Any advice is appriciated. I have 3 nannacara anomalas, 1 otocinclus, 4 corydoras and 1 sturisoma panamense.

How to get my plecos to breed?

I have 2 L059 plecos in my 50 gal. There is 4 caves and a huge driftwood but they seem hesitant to breed. Parameters are fine with 0 Nitrites and ~30 ppm Nitrates. Ph is slightly above 7 and TDS is ~180 ppm. The only thing I notice is that female have a bit of damaged fins and I suppose that is because of the male as I have seen the male almost kill another pleco before. How can I get these guys to breed and what can I do for the female?

Confused with TDS values. I need assistance.

Hey everyonem Recently, I got a TDS meter as my lfs recommended it. The TDS value I get from my drinking water is 110 ppm, from the tap water it is 180 ppm, from my aquarium it is 350 ppm and from the dechlorinized water it is 800 ppm. I am confused because the lfs said that the TDS was way too high for my pair to breed. However, it seems like my only option to lower it is reverse osmosis water because the dechloronized water I use after water changes has a ppm of 800 which is absurd. Is RO water is my only option? Why does my dechlorinized water has a higher TDS value than the tap water? Is it true that a pair of apistogramma would breed at lower TDS?

Help with high pH and kH

Hey everyone. I have a pair of nannacara anomala in my 20 gallon and I was wondering why they don't breed. I tested my water and all parameters are fine instead of kH and pH. My pH is approx. 7.5 which is pretty high for south american cichlids like mine. kH is 20ºd which is also pretty high. How can I lower these safely to get my pair to breed?

Fin rot or fighting?

Hey everyone. I have 2 corys 2 otocats 2 female nannacara anomala and one male nannacara anomala in my 20 gal. Recently I have seen that my male’s fins are damaged and his left fin is in severe condition. Is this fin rot or fighting? He was constantly chasing and trying to breed with the female but the female was pretty aggressive. My corys also have a bit of fin rot but I always thought that it was because of the female being aggressive with them too. They managed to recover a few times but it keeps coming back. It’s my first time seeing it on my male. What should I do? The females and otocats do not have any damage on their fins.

What does this behaviour mean?

I have 2 females and one male nannacara anomala in my 20 gal. The male seems eager to breed and performs these dances. However, the female does not allow him to enter the coconut and bites him or leaves the coconut if he gets too close. Same thing goes on in other coconuts too. Any advice? How do I get these guys to breed?
