Website visits and traffic are dropping as well, not just on the app

Per Google AI:

As of April/May 2026, Character.AI has experienced a notable decline in traffic and user engagement, with reports of a 6% to nearly 14% drop in monthly visits. Core users are reportedly leaving due to restrictive content filters, the removal of popular AI models, and increased bot moderation, causing significant community frustration.

In short, free users like myself, are leaving in numbers

But yeah I think I'm gonna be dialing back my visits and use of the site for the time being, they clearly don't want my traffic and I'll be damned if I download the app to have to deal with ads and have the same features missing (like the Roar chat feature)

I'm not a big fan of Soft Launch and the less said about Pipsqueak the better

Now that they've removed Roar from the options list, they're gonna raise the price on subscriptions

Because that's Business 101, you get less and pay more, rinse and repeat
