Water not hard enough for Axolotl- Need Advice!
Hey everyone :) I've read a general water hardness of 8-12 dGH being ideal, and a carbonate hardness of 4-6dKH. However, while our tapwater (we live in Germany) seems otherwise almost perfectly suited for axolotl, our water is 3,2 general hardness, and 3,3 carbonate hardness.
Now I have got some carbonate rock (Muschelkalk specifically) lying around- wouldnt adding it into the aquarium make the water harder? Instead of adjusting and readjusting continuously throughout waterchanges- wouldnt it be possible to just have some in there and measure to see how it goes?
So far we are still in the planning stage, I want to make sure the little guys get all they need :)
