today i received my new to me but used rog 5s and it keeps going to a black screen

i bought this device for two reaons, the usb c video out, and being able to connect my dji drone controller to the bottom port and it was "rootable"

well it appears that it may not actualy be rootable now. anyways the dji controller and myar glasses work on the phone, but i had to turn on usb debugging, but this was no big deal

my biggest problem is that the phone seems to crash to a black screen.

just sitting on the couch these evening trying to figure this out, it seems to crash about every 2 minutes or so if i have my ar glasses plugged in.

if its just chilling next to me on the couch with nothing connected it seems fine, but once i plug in the ar glasses some secrete random timer is activated.

at first i thought maybe it was the fact that i was running two devices from the two usb ports, so i stopped messing with the drone and bottom port and focused on side port and video out.

i really doubt its a heat issue, as i am not doing anything crazy, just clicking around in firefox.

my ar glasses has all sorts of neat things you can do, but i stopped using it as it just crashes too quick and i was thinking it was causing the issue, but even when i stopped playing with the ar app, i think its called space walker if that matters, but none the less the issue is still there.

i have been reading online and it appears that this shutting down/black screen issue is common, but normally after its been heated up, i cant keep it on long enough to get hot.

also, the battery seems good enough for a 5 year old phone, i think.

should i return this and get a rog 4? are they more reliable? easier to root?

i have tried other phones with one usb port and a usb hub, but the dji controller refuses to work with any hub and i have tried many.

i have found rog phones used on ebay starting at about $200

also i want to root, and it seems like the rog 2 and up to about rog phone 8 supports this.

again i want two fully functioning usb ports, and i want one to them to go to my ar glasses and the other port be used to connect to the dji controller

does this sound possible

I have been buying drones and loving them for close to 15 years, but it's time I build my dream drone.

I am the very early stages of roughing this together on paper, I am not committed to anything yet.

this is the controller that doesnt have a screen so you plug a phone in and run the dji app. this for my mini 4k drone

with the phone i can cast to a mira screen device to get dhmi out, but it uses 2.4 and 5hz wifi for this. while this works it interferes with the controller communicating with the drone and significantly affects the drone range.

sure i can manually set the mira to 5ghz and the drone to 2.4ghz, but then i loose the benefit of the drone being able to hop back and forth

also, i separated the phone from the controller with a much longer usb cable, and this does help, but its still kinda annoying.

so my next idea was a usb hub, so i could put a usb to hdmi adapter in the mix, and while this works for video as i want, the drone controller refuses to work with any hub and i have many hubs and bought even more and tried every single one, and not one hub will work with the dji controller.

i was even thinking of putting the phone and the mira device into a mylar bag to cut down on the interference as much as possible, but i havent tried this yet

even if i just use the hub in between the controller and the phone, with nothing else connected, the controller simply wont work to connect to the phones control app

any ideas would be appreciated, i an leaning towards a small tablet with hdmi out or dual usb out

i want to basically have two usb cables going to the phone, one for the dji rc controller, and another for a display link adapter.

the display link works as it should and the controller works as it should, but i cant get either one to work through a usb c hub

i have a charger that tells me the battery capacity of each battery. i have four batteries for my air three and i try to cycle them evenly

i fast charge them at about 100 watts, and if you know about lipo, thats really not that fast, its slightly over 1c, and fast charge out in the field too if i need to

i fly the drone hard, and dont even let them cool down before charging them back up, granted i know the battery's bms wouldnt let me if they were too hot anyways.

i fly all summer and all winter, no matter the temps.

i fly until the very last moment i can with the battery capacity, just a few days ago i got down to 9%

i go out of my way to make sure no battery falls before 64% if in "storage", but they never sit long.

i also fly several times a week, and i think the cycle count is around high 90s to low 100's.

flying drones something i am obsessed with and its my default recreational activity, just yesterday i flew for three hours straight, i say this to imply my drones dont collect dust

my chargers will let me charge to or drain to storage levels, but i have only done that a few times as i fly to often for this.

when i put the drone and batteries a way for a trip i will charge them all up to 100%, knowing the batteries bms will slowly drain them down to storage levels

also, i dont wait for a battery to be fully charged to fly. i will put all the batteries on the chargers, grab the most full battery and toss it in and begin flying, when it drains the battery and i land it, all the other batteries are normally fully charged and ready go

i think only loosing 6% battery compacity over all that time and hard use is excellent and wanted to share.
