What's the point of the stalwart shotgun? i feel like i'm missing something

so the normal fire is a basic as basic shotgun, and the alternate fire lets me hang the shots in the air then release them when i next pull the trigger. what is the benefit of this compared to just shooting the enemy? does it do bonus damage?

at the moment, it seems like i take the time to set up a trick shot, take the time to maneuver the enemy in front of said trick shot while not firing any other shots to not wastefully set off my trap, and then it... shoots them twice? why wouldn't i just take that same amount of time to shoot the enemy directly five times?

surely i'm missing something here

so i just beat the first four bosses in a single run, including both >!Rhabdom and Legion !<for the first time before being forced back to Passage.

despite this unlocking a massive amount of new skill tree i still have about 40,000 Lucenite left over and no apparent use for it

given that starting a new run will presumably cause me to lose all that Lucenite, is there anything i can use it for so as not too waste it?

having all the leftovers and no use makes the game feel rather limited in a way i don't particularly like
