Hello Brownstoners,

I live in an apartment with rounded windows. They are lovely and, more importantly, I rent so they aren’t going anywhere. Does anyone else have windows like this? If so, what do you do in the summer to keep bugs out and to cool your apartment?

In the past we’ve put in a straight screen then stuffed rags into the gaps but that is unsightly and not entirely effective in keeping bugs out. Further, we’re stumped as to what to do about air conditioning and basically ceded half of our apartment during the warmest stretches of the summer since the back half has modern double hung windows.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
