Can most of us agree that Scream 2 is the franchise crown jewel of suspense?

The original and Scream 6 are close in my book, but part 2 takes the cake. It is packed wall to wall with brilliantly crafted set pieces that just ratchet up the suspense meter to maximum.

Maureen sitting unknowingly next to her would be murderer, Cici alone in the sorority house, Randy snatched in broad daylight, THE SOUND BOOTH chase, Sidney and Hallie CLIMBING OVER GHOSTFACE, the dilemma over whether to untie the boyfriend, so many nail-biting sequences that are just so brilliantly executed. The direction, music, camera, acting and writing are just all 10/10 in so many moments in Scream 2.

So if Jenna Ortega was already planning on exiting Scream 7, would a Sam Carpenter solo lead film actually work?

An aspect of MB’s scorched earth interview that’a not getting nearly enough chatter is the confirmation that Jenna’s exit had nothing to do with solidarity. This backs up previous reporting that she was already planning to have little to no place in Scream 7 before Melissa was fired.

So the Carpenter sister dynamic duo was to be no more. How well do you think that would’ve worked out, with Samatha essentially becoming the new Sidney, in a solo lead Scream?

OK I was in HS from 95-99. I was reading an article recently about the history of the internet and it got me thinking about when we all grew up.

As a high school freshman we were still allowed to turn in hand written papers and many of us still wrote in cursive. Sources for papers were still largely books or articles we got from the library.

By the time the 90s were closing out, along with my HS years, hand written papers were no longer allowed in most classes. A few of my IB teachers were also requiring at least one internet source for the papers. I had one early adopter as a teacher that even let us email our assignments in before that was much of a thing.

I remember most of us just adapting and taking it in stride. Sure there was some grumbling here and there but of course because, teenagers. Looking back that was a really rapid change, which is something I’m not sure anyone much older or younger than us can really relate to.
