I’ve had my Miata for 6 months, and fear I need to get rid it. I’ve been hit 4 times since getting it.
I love my car so much, and it’s my daily driver. I’ve wanted a convertible for my entire life. I just feel like I’ve had horrible luck since getting it. I’ve been in 4 accidents since getting this car, and all of them were ruled to be the fault of the other person. There was actually a 5th accident where someone backed into my car while it was parked, but I’ll just skip that one since there were just minor scratches with that.
First accident, I was sitting at a red light, stopped. Person behind me also stopped, but very close to me. I guess they were so close that they didn’t see me anymore since they had a very large SUV, thought they could pull up more, and hit the gas, therefore rear ending me. Then they drove off, so that one was a hit and run.
Second accident, I was merging onto a highway. Large pickup truck also merging onto the highway assumed I had merged already, tried to take the same gap I was trying to take, hit their gas and rear ended me. Insurance ruled them to be at fault.
Third accident, I was sitting at a red light. Person driving a SUV wasn’t paying attention I guess, didn’t see the stopped traffic ahead of them, and they rear ended me. I had been stopped already for at least 45 seconds. Insurance again ruled them to be at fault.
Fourth accident just happened today. Person driving a large SUV did not see me in the lane next to them, decided to try to change lanes into my lane, and side swiped the entire left side of my car. I expect insurance to also rule this to be their fault as well.
I think people in these large vehicles literally just can’t see me. I don’t feel safe, and I feel like it’s only a matter of time before I end up in a more serious accident because of it. I’m genuinely heartbroken because I love this car. I’ve wanted a Miata for so long.
Has anyone else had this experience? I just don’t know what to do, and I feel like my luck has been horrible.
TLDR; I’ve had my Miata for 6 months, and have been in 4 accidents since getting it. All were at the fault of the other person driving, and all with large vehicles who I suspect couldn’t see me.
