I submitted all of my renewal information before the date it was due (4/10), but simultaneously got a notice saying I needed to submit my child's birth certificate, ss card and my own income statement. I uploaded those documents along with the renewal, but got another notice saying that I because I did not upload those 3 specific documents, my Medi-Cal and my child's medi-cal coverage would be terminated on (4/30) unless I corrected the matter by uploaded the documents within 90 days. So, like any human being might do, I uploaded them again and marked them as specifically as possible within minutes of receiving the letter. I sent in several messages telling them I re-uploaded those documents and tried to get through to a customer service person several times on the phone but gave up. I do not have a case worker it's just the customer service number. It appears that no one ever checked my renewal or documents because the Medi-cal was terminated, and of course I am now freaking out.
I am in the process of re-applying entirely because I have no idea what else to do (I don't think waiting 90 days for a 'hearing' makes sense with a 1-year-old who is constantly falling and putting things in his mouth). It's decidedly dangerous to not have health insurance for a baby and I'm shocked that the state would cancel Medi-cal on a breastfeeding mother with no income/primary caretaker without even checking out the info sent in. I'm sure it's all run by AI at this point but what should I do to get retroactive health insurance for this month - May? Is that even possible or should I assume we may just lose limbs or pass away this month if something goes amiss?
Likewise, the Covered California site is saying that I cannot apply with them and just pay using a credit care because I have an account that hasn't be verified? I emailed and called them and requested a callback tomorrow (Monday) so hopefully someone can help me log back in. Not sure if this post is a question or if I'm just extremely upset and venting.
