Women in Afghanistan

I don’t wish to place blame, nor do I wish to judge any religion. I am genuinely concerned. Why is there not more outrage over the way women are being treated in Afghanistan?

As of May 2026, the situation for women in Afghanistan has reached a catastrophic breaking point, shifting from restrictive to a state of total legal erasure. Under the newly codified Decree No. 12, the regime has effectively legalized domestic violence by removing protections for women and making it nearly impossible to report abuse without a male guardian. The "morality laws" of 2026 have been tightened to the point of absurdity; a woman's voice is now legally considered "awrah" (intimate), meaning she is prohibited from speaking in public, even to other women or for prayer. This systematic "gender apartheid" has also crippled the humanitarian response, as women are now banned from working with the UN and aid organizations, cutting off millions from life-saving medical care and food. With the training of new female doctors and midwives completely halted, maternal mortality is skyrocketing, and the world is witnessing the deliberate, legal dismantling of an entire gender's existence

I’m posting this here not to disparage Muslim women or Islam. However, because Afghanistan is considered an Islamic state, I thought it would be relevant to share this news here. My heart truly breaks for the women currently going through this, and I simply want this movement to receive the same level of global recognition that the Palestinian movement received.

Since much of the Islamic community pushed for global recognition of the genocide taking place there, I do not see why the injustice facing Afghan women should be treated any differently.

If anyone is interested in helping further, I heard there was once a women’s movement called RAWA that are currently working against the regime
