I started messing around with a small content site lately and trying to optimize it more for AI search instead of traditional SEO. Basically stuff like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s AI answers picking up your content.

The biggest change I made was just how I write. I stopped doing those long winded intros and started answering the actual question right away. I also broke things up into more simple, question style sections so it’s easier for AI to understand and pull from.

Another thing I noticed is that the more natural and straightforward the writing is, the better it seems to perform. I also started putting a short summary at the top of posts so the main point is obvious immediately.

It’s still early days, but I’ve had a couple pages show up when I tested prompts in AI tools, which didn’t happen before. Nothing crazy in traffic yet, but definitely seeing more visibility

I'm planning to hire from Brazil and I’m thinking of using an EOR instead of setting up a local entity. Mainly because it feels faster and less painful from a setup standpoint.

But I keep thinking I might be missing the bigger picture here.

For those who’ve actually done it, what are the real risks I should be aware of?

Would really appreciate hearing what actually went wrong or what people wish they knew before starting.

I run a small ecom store in Australia selling gourmet and medicinal mushroom grow kits.

I used to manage my Google Ads myself and actually had decent results in the beginning, but over time performance has dropped off a lot. I feel like I’m now just wasting budget without really understanding what changed or what I should be fixing.

I previously worked with an agency that charged around $1000/month in management fees, which was way too expensive for my size of business and didn’t really deliver strong enough results to justify it.

Right now I’m mainly trying to figure out whether this is a tracking issue, strategy issue, or just normal fluctuations with niche products like this.
