So my history of instant ramen... lots and lots of Sapporo ichiban, Nissin, Shin ramyun, Maruchan, amongst others i forgot. But this is the first for me on Buldak. Ok....
Instead of writing paragraphs after paragraphs, i'll just write the Pros / Cons of what I like and don't like (This is MY opinion. You may list your experiences as well so please do not bash me....).
Pros:
- The noodles. I admit, very thick and doesn't have that "roughness" that other noodles have. (I like to drain my noodles first then put in boiling water a 2nd time. To me it tastes better this way!). Top notch high quality noodles!.
- The powder sauce that came with it. Very creamy and full of flavors!
- The noodles itself is the largest i've ever seen in a instant package. They give you ALOT and it is perfect for lunch / dinner that'll guarantee to make you full. A+ for that.
Cons:
- The spice level. omfg the spicyness of it. This is considered to be "Mild" in Buldak standards? I don't even wanna try the Original, 2x, 3x!, forget it. Though I heard Quattro cheese contains less spice than Cream. Will try someday.
Each bite = I sweat. And I keep sweating, i can't stop... this never happened to me before and i put hot sauce in almost everything. Jesus. It BURNS. My mouth, tongue, all my gums, its on fire. I used 100% of the sauce. Next time? 10 - 20% max, A dot even. Never again 100% LOL.
Verdict: Buldak is definitely an acquired taste. If you can handle fire, you can handle this. The cream powder was the only saving grace for this. I also understand Buldak doesn't have Soup base style, most of them are "Drain water" and eat style. This is more of a "I'll eat this once a month" type deal not a "I'll eat this every other day". Final verdict: 2.5 / 5.
