Almost experienced an accident
Almost got into an accident today, I was riding on the right lane down a two lane road and another mini school bus was traveling down the left lane. About 150m away , there was a green public bus in the bus bay and passengers just finished boarding. As the school bus was about to approach the bus bay, the green bus started to exit the bus bay and the school bus had to swerved right to avoid the green bus. The left lane is a bus lane but it was 7am on a weekday morning so the bus lane wasn’t active. There wasn’t a mandatory give way box on the road either, just a yellow box with a cross.
Who should I direct the complaint at, public bus or the school bus company ?
I am leaning towards complaining to the public bus company as the school bus wasn't speeding and it actually has the right of way. Over the past 1-2 years, I have also personally encountered public bus drivers exiting the bus bay even though there are still other vehicles not too far behind, resulting in evasive maneuvers from other road users.
