So a few years back i bought 2 sticks of 8gb DDR4 Corsair Vengence Ram. After a while i decided i wanted 32gb of ram and bought a set of identicle ram sticks brand new.
Every went fine until 1 year in and suddenly im getting BSOD, crashing, and just general instability. Sfc /scannow was showing corrupted system files. i.e it was looking bad, so ran Memtest86 on the whole set of ram and immediately getting errors. I send a while and test them all. Both sticks of new ram are throwing errors even when in dimm slot 2/4. The older 2 sticks were fine.
Thought it was just a bad batch and got them replaced under warranty. Well fast forward a year and a half exact same thing happenes again. In 1/4 tests on memtest86 the two new sticks of ram threw over 1000 errors. The old 2 sticks, absolutely perfect.
What are the chances that i got 2 batches of dodgy ram, or is my dimm slot 1/3 killing my ram? Any insights honestly helps. Either way i dont think ill ever slot 4 sticks again.
