I thrifted a shirt (54% tencel, 46% cotton) and there was some fraying at the top of one of the pocket flaps. I took the flap off, loosely blanket stitched over the non-visible part of the fray, and fused it back on with hem tape. Now I am realizing that the hem tape doesn't reach far enough to really address the fraying. And the loose blanket stitch isn't doing tons of work here (loose because at the time I was stitching I had wash-out Wonder tape in there and it was hard to push the needle through and I was lazy :( ). Suggestions? Pics attached of "mended"(ish) pocket and the other pocket for comparison. I will be topstitching the mended pocket, but I wanted to stop for advice before I screw it up any further. TIA!

ETA: I have a sewing machine - if relevant
